Safety

The tools we give you, and the honest limits of each one.

Before you meet

Photo verification helps confirm that the person in a profile is the person using it. You take a selfie in a pose we choose, and a member of our team compares it with your profile photos. Verified members carry a blue check.

That badge is earned, never bought. A checkmark you can purchase tells you nothing, so ours is only awarded by passing verification. It confirms a photo match, not a person’s identity, background or intentions.

Share your date

Before meeting someone, you can share where you are going, when, and who with — sent to contacts you choose. The details expire automatically afterwards.

Blocking and reporting

You can block or report anyone, from anywhere in the app, in one action. Blocking is immediate and mutual: they disappear from your experience and you from theirs.

Reports about minors, threats of violence, or self-harm are placed at the front of the queue and reach a person straight away.

  • Block a member from their profile or any conversation
  • Report a profile, a photo, a video, a message, a conversation or a gift
  • Hide your profile from people in your phone contacts
  • Appeal a moderation decision, and have a different reviewer look at it

What we cannot do

We do not offer emergency dispatch. Some apps integrate a panic button that contacts emergency services; we have not built that, and we would rather say so than ship a button that does nothing.

If you are in danger, contact your local emergency number.

We do not run criminal background checks, and verification does not make someone trustworthy. Meet in public, tell someone where you are going, never send money to someone you met here, and leave whenever you want to.
